Inspiration
(For
Joan Marie Sutton)
I
never thought I’d meet you,
At
a wedding party on the hill.
Would
I be happy and very kind?
Because
you did give me a smile.
Hand
in hand you said you liked me;
Eye
to eye showed what it would be.
My
loneliness had gone away.
Oh
my dear! What did you say?
The
short time I spent with you,
And
for the first time I knew
I
learned a lot about your world.
It
made me feel I wasn’t alone.
Since
I’ve been in this country,
Without
relatives and my family.
I’m
free as a dove;
Would
you mind giving me your love?
My
life was as sad as an empty house;
I
felt like a horse living in a town;
I
didn’t know what to I do —
No
sign to go; no place to move.
I
lie on my bed; eyes open wide.
An
inspiration comes to my mind.
For
the first time I’m thinking of you;
And
for the first time, I tell you the truth.
